Below is a list of questions that many concert vacation customers have asked.

I am the primary traveler. The secondary travelers are repaying me for their portion of the package. Do I insure the whole group?

Travel insurance is designed to cover your entire trip, not just the concert/event/hotel package. Your flights, other accommodations, tours, and more that are paid for prior to your departure can and should be included in the insurable trip cost if they are nonrefundable and are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions.

If you are the primary traveler who purchased the package for others, consider the total individual trip costs, travel dates, and resident states of each traveler.

  • Within your group, if all of you traveling together have the same trip costs, the same travel dates, and live in the same state, you can purchase a policy together. However, there are no group discounts on the policy premiums. Or...
  • If you each have the different trip costs, the different travel dates, and live in the different states, you can and should consider purchasing your own respective policies to cover your own nonrefundable trip costs.

*Make sure to keep good track of all of the trip payments that have been made and received to and from the secondary travelers. It's good to have digital and/or paper receipts or records on payment platforms (Zelle, PayPal, CashApp, AppleCash, VenMo) in case you and/or they have to file a claim and are asked to present receipts for payments.

How do I calculate my total trip costs for the travel insurance quote?

Trip Cost per person is a determining factor in the price of the insurance coverage, as well as the amount of trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage. Calculating the accurate insurable trip cost can seem confusing, but it doesn't have to be. You can include...
  • any non-refundable trip costs that you would lose should you need to cancel your trip due to a covered reason prior to your trip departure, or should you need to interrupt your trip due to a covered reason during your trip.
  • payments already made for flights, cruises, hotels, tours, and related excursions.
  • payments still needed to be made (ie. balances on flights, hotels, tours, excursions that are scheduled and confirmed, but aren't finalized until your arrival).

***If you are purchasing the Safe Travels Voyager plan with the upgrade to Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR), there are eligibility requirements for CFAR related to the insured trip cost. Specifically, "You insure all prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions," and "You insure within fifteen (15) days of the payment for those arrangements, the cost of any subsequent arrangements (or any other arrangements not made through your travel agent) added before your trip."

Do I need to insure my entire trip cost?

*Insuring your total nonrefundable trip cost will leave you more adequately and appropriately insured.

If you plan to purchase the Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade benefit option then you must insure all prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions. This means all nonrefundable trip costs that you plan to pay for prior to your departure for this trip.

If you do not plan to purchase the CFAR upgrade benefit option then you can list an insured trip cost of your preference. However, note that the Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits will be limited by the trip cost amount you wish to insure.

I purchased my hotel/concert package, but not my flights yet. What do I insure?

If you have purchased your concert/hotel package, but are still waiting to purchase your flights, and you would like to also insure the cost of your flights, you can either:
  • purchase the insurance with the estimated cost of the flights (it may be safer to over-estimate), or
  • purchase the insurance for the trip payment totals you are sure of and then add the cost of the flights to the insurance within 15 days of booking your flights (this will add to your insurance premium total).

Will these plans include coverage for Trip Cancellation due to a vaccine mandate?

No. COVID-19 is considered a "known event". Any trip cancellation or trip interruption claims related to travel restrictions (including vaccine mandates) or fear of travel due to COVID-19 will not be payable.

*Unless you purchase the Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade option and you meet all of the eligibility requirements upon filing a claim.

Trip Protection Coverage in 2021

Some basics about travel insurance in these times
There is a lot of information here. We want you to be informed.
  • Trip Protection Coverage: These plans provide Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Trip Delay coverage if you are prevented from taking your trip due to a covered reason; most notably - illness, injury, or death to the traveler, a traveling companion, and/or an immediate family member not traveling, unforecasted inclement weather, and much more (please visit our Safe Travels Journey & Voyager plan comparison in our Help Center for more details).
  • Some COVID-19 Coverage Notes:
    • COVID-19 MEDICAL EXPENSES are covered and treated the same as any other sickness.
    • COVID-19 Coverage provides Trip Cancellation reimbursement for unused, nonrefundable insured trip cost if you are prevented from taking your trip IF you or your traveling companion become sick with COVID-19 before your trip is to start and a doctor states you cannot travel.
    • COVID-19 is considered a "known event". Any trip cancellation or trip interruption claims related to travel restrictions or fear of travel due to COVID-19 will not be payable.
  • Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade option can be added to the Safe Travels Voyager plan. CFAR provides reimbursement for 75% percent of the prepaid, nonrefundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip, if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy.

Why should I buy travel insurance?

One thing that's certain is the unpredictability of travel for you or even a non-traveling family member. From sickness to hurricane evacuations, or injury while traveling, our travel insurance protects you - and your trip investment - even before you leave.
The travel retailer/planner who is organizing your experience may require you to purchase and maintain a qualified travel insurance policy for the duration of your trip.

Americans are beginning to travel abroad again for leisure, business, study abroad and missionary work. Given recent epidemics, natural disasters, and security threats in countries all around the globe - coupled with common medical issues - travelers have plenty of reasons to make sure their health and safety are fully insured prior to trip departure.

When should I purchase a trip insurance plan?

The sooner you purchase a trip protection style travel insurance plan, the more it will cover. It is generally recommended to purchase a trip protection style travel insurance plan within the first 10 or 21 days of making your initial trip payment of any kind for the trip. This is because many trip insurance plans have included benefits and/or upgrade options (ie coverage for pre-existing conditions, Cancellation for Any Reason upgrade). Plus, the trip payments you have already made are not covered until you purchase a trip protection style travel insurance policy.

On our existing plans, please refer to the following links and references:

When adding the Cancellation for Any Reason (CFAR) upgrade option to the Safe Travels Voyager travel insurance plan, If You cancel Your Trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this Policy, the Company will reimburse you for the percentage (up to 75%) of the pre-paid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits You paid for Your Trip shown on the Schedule of Benefits provided:

Trip Postponements & Policy Migrations

If you or your travel supplier postpones your trip, you may transfer your insurance coverage to a different trip or to reflect the new travel dates as long as those dates are no more than 18 months from the original travel dates. The new trip does not have to be to the same destination.

To move the coverage, please send an email to support@gowanderwell.com, stating that your trip has been rescheduled by your travel supplier, and you would like for your insurance policy to reflect the new travel dates and cost. Provide the following:
  • Order/Certificate Number or Policy Number
  • Names of All Insured Travelers on the original policy
  • Insurance Purchase Date
  • Original Trip Dates (departure from home and return to home)
  • Dates to move the coverage to (departure from home and return to home)
  • Current Destination
  • New Destination (if applicable)
  • New Total Trip Cost per person

Won't the credit card that I use pay for the trip or the travel supplier reimburse me, if something goes wrong?

Not all credit cards include coverage trip cancellation or trip interruption. Even some that do require you to buy-in to it. Credit card coverage often isn't as comprehensive as retail travel insurance plans are for benefits such as trip cancellation, trip interruption, travel medical expenses, and emergency medical transportation. Plus, the credit card coverage typically doesn't include coverage for pre-existing conditions or if the travel supplier falls into bankruptcy or financial default.

Check to see if your credit card is this comprehensive. If so, you may just feel comfortable supplementing that coverage with a travel medical-only plan.

What if my flight is delayed or canceled by the airline due to COVID-19?

On trip protection/cancellation-style plans, if your flight is delayed or canceled, Trip Interruption, Missed Connection and Travel Delay benefits may be available. Please check your specific plan for terms and conditions.

On travel medical-only style plans, the insurance plan can sometimes be canceled up to the day before your effective date for a full refund. However, some plans have only a 10-day free look period for premium refunds. The travel medical plans do not include trip cancellation benefits.
